BEGIN TO SPIN
BEGIN TO SPIN
SUNDAY 9 JUNE 2021 11am - 5pm
Sandra will be teaching new spinners the basics of making yarn on both a drop spindle and spinning wheel. Participants will have the chance to learn the differences in fibres and working with them, preparing the wool for hand spinning and spinning their first skein of wool. Materials and equipment will be provided, but if you have a spinning wheel that you would like to use, feel free to bring it along. This class will confirm if hand spinning is something you want to pursue on a higher level and classes will be held later for continuing with this traditional craft. Spinning is one of those crafts that just seems to feed the soul. Once you get the hang of it, spinning is very relaxing and you can drift with the meditative-like flow, or have a chat whilst spinning— like so many of our ancestors did.
Classes and workshops are limited in size, please book early to avoid disappointment
Materials are provided for all workshops and classes. Tea, coffee, biscuits provided, but you will need to bring your own lunch.
Deposits equal to half the price are essential in order to hold your place in these small workshops/classes. There is a deposit option as well as a full price option listed in the Workshops & Classes storefront. Please note that deposits are non-refundable.
Public transport: the 51 bus (Cork/Galway) stops right in front of the Irish Fibre Crafters studio just about every hour, daily. Ardrahan train station (with occasional times) is a 5 minute drive from the studio, but it is a road with no good verge, so please let us bring you from/to the station rather than attempt the walk.
Driving? Irish Fibre Crafters is just 5 minutes off of the Ardrahan exit
