SPRING IS HERE!! (OR JUST AROUND THE CORNER)
Today the sunshine and the daffs popping out makes me feel that Spring is here at last. This is always a time of anticipation for me and a time for making plans for the coming year. So far, we have had a couple of classes, one in felting Valentines, and one in warping a loom. Here are some photos:
And there are many more planned: March-needle felted shamrock brooch for St. Patrick’s Day; Follow up warping class April-Wild Tea Cosies to knit or crochet; Felted fancy Easter eggs. And there will be more of the spinning, weaving, dyeing and felting classes scheduled throughout the year. Find them here on the Workshop page. Several of our classes are suitable for children, so check the description in the listing.
If you would like a bargain on some woollens for next winter, we are offering ALL John Hanly products at a 25% off sale during the month of March. You can email or message me for availability, colours and prices. These include scarves, capes, blankets, shawls, and baby blankets, which make excellent gifts.
Also coming soon is the European Wool Day on 9 April. Sheep breeders, wool manufacturers, wool mills, craft shops and many others who love and work with wool will be represented. This is a great way to find out what is happening with wool and learn about what others are doing to increase the useability and sustainability of this wonderful raw material. Irish Fibre Crafters will be live streaming on the day and we will be discussing the health benefits of crafting with wool. Here is a link to our video from last year’s European Wool Day: https://youtu.be/Gk9c1eL1fSA If you want to learn more about the European Wool Exchange (EWE) have a look at the website: https://www.ewe.network/
There is a lot to do this year, so take care and I hope to be seeing some of you in the shop.
